Ikkyū ~

before birth after birth

that's where you are now

it's logical: if you're not going anywhere

any road is the right one

rain hail snow ice

I love watching the river

only one koan matters

you

rain drips from the roof lip

loneliness sounds like that

Lovely haiku!

So simple, elegant but so incredibly difficult to write. I've tried a few hundred of them but couldn't do it.

Love the "it's logical: if you're not going anywhere

any road is the right one".

I've 'heard' Ikkyu spoken, without the speaker knowing it, in the back hills of Vermont.

The old boy's trait gets around
all's well, Bob
