Forty years of marriage is an enviable milestone. I love the coy view of the site of matrimony. Forty years too of your friendship with Gerald. Am I right too that it is the fortieth anniversary of your first book? Our friendship is younger but I revel in all odometer readings including that new truck, that new jeep. Love to you and Susan.

Stay close together,

Many thanks, Mike. From us both.

Yes, 40 years ago since Cherry Valley Editions published my first book Rope of Bells. Honestly, I hadn't given that a thought yet. I waited for a good friend to come over for a visit and say so. You just have.

Keep the faith, Gerry and I got in touch with one another in 1974. I had met his wife Lorry two years earlier by happenstance in the Berkshire idyll bookshop. They are both important to me. Gerry and I wouldn't finally put eyes onto one another for almost 35 years.

Let's not you and I wait that long
all's well, Bob
