Happy New Year and thanks for another perfect jukebox. Yes, I love Ian Matthews, the perfect bridge from Fairport Convention deep Britaniana to riding-shotgun-in-the-sky Americana , but best for me is the great Johnny Adams standing at the center. When I took over the Louisiana Folklife Festival in 1995, I made it a point to book Adams and to bring him together with the Maggie Lewis Warwick who wrote his "Reconsider Me." A sudden storm drove us indoors for an epic duet, Johnny every bit the dapper, funky gentleman who could bridge Hank and Frank by way of Doc Pomus.

Love it all, y'all.

Eat your black-eyed peas,

Happy New Year, Mike!

I'm telling you, again and again, just in the little bit and slice of cherry pie goodness of yr Johnny Adams recall I am after your music memoir that I want to see you sitting down and writing one of these days, or dictate it while you drive in the truck, it won't matter, both ways will be coming from the heart. Yes, indeed, Doc Pomus. Yes, indeed at the center of the jukebox. You have an infielder's eye.

It very well could be Donna Reed. At that moment I wanted it all to be of-one. No name. No time. Time passing slowly.

Here's to the music that is brought indoors
all's well, Bob
