Dear Bob,

Woke early and came downstairs and had my daily peek into the Birdhouse. Big Pink! Dylan and the Band are so woven into the fabric of me. I got drunk one time in high school and the hungover morning in the back of a car was throbbed with Garth's clavichord from Up on Cripple Creek, a sound that has never left me. The first interview I ever did for publication was with Levon Helm. On it goes. Thanks for taking me to the Basement yet again and letting me see it for the first time.

stay close,

Hi Mike,

It was an interview the year of Big Pink with Jimi Hendrix that took me down the street and another street to my local Woolworth's store and in their bins, for $2.99, was this magic album cover. We may forget just how magical and different seeing this Bob Dylan painting on the cover of an album just was. Never mind heading home and putting the record on, and on, and on. The boys hit pay dirt with that one. It was a sound that rose out of the ground. Next album wasn't shabby either.

all's well, Bob
