An ideal primer by a sharp, passionate jazz lover —
Miles Davis (but then maybe too much Miles Davis) I would
have dropped the final essay and all would have
been quite joyous with jazz in the park; leave
the reader dancing in the aisles with the author.
Good stuff on Hank Mobley, Sonny Clark, Wardell Gray,
Lee Morgan, and important tributes on the forgotten —
like Jutta Hipp and Lorraine Geller.
I salute this writer for those last two.
