"Over the past decade, we have collected a vast
array of haiku, a portion of which is presented here.
Gathered from sources as antique shops,
estate sales, and used bookstores,
we believe we have discovered the existence
of a tradition not unlike the Japanese tradition of the
jisei, or as defined in Yoel Hoffman's
Japanese Death Poems, the "farewell poem to life."
